Accepting New Clients

Hi, my name is Laura and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker. I have experience with providing counseling and supporting children, families, and individuals, with the focus to bring healing and restoration. My previous work experiences include providing bilingual (Korean and English) counseling to survivors and victims of domestic and intimate partner violence. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in the medical settings, including the Psychiatric Emergency Room (CPEP). My background includes conducting clinical assessments, providing trauma-informed and client-focused therapy, and supporting children, families, and individuals in developing positive coping skills, de-escalation techniques, and effective goal-setting strategies in the counseling setting.

“If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever.” — Thomas Aquinas

I understand that choosing to receive counseling can feel overwhelming at first, even though it is ultimately rewarding. Often, therapy is perceived as merely an extra opinion rather than a pathway to meaningful clarity. However, I firmly believe that engaging in therapy can provide significant benefits. Therapy can provide emotional clarity and relief by uncovering the root causes of distress, leading to a deeper understanding of your emotions. It also offers effective coping strategies, equipping you with practical tools to manage stress, trauma, and life’s challenges. Together, these benefits make therapy a valuable resource for personal growth and healing.

I utilize a trauma-informed approach throughout the therapeutic process, tailoring my methods to align with each client’s unique needs and goals. By integrating psychoeducation and thorough clinical assessments, I support clients toward achieving their objectives and having a deeper understanding of their experiences.

My goal is to create a warm, safe, and supportive space where each client feels genuinely understood and empowered. I am committed to offering personalized guidance, empathetic understanding, and practical tools that help build resilience.

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): I work with children and adolescents to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, helping them develop healthier coping strategies to manage anxiety, depression, and everyday stress.

    • Play Therapy: I create a safe, playful space for younger clients to express their feelings and work through difficult emotions, allowing them to process their experiences in a way that feels natural and comfortable for them.

    • Trauma-Informed Care: My approach is always trauma-informed, providing a safe environment where clients can explore their experiences and emotions at their own pace, with empathy and understanding.

    • Parent and Family Support: I work with families to strengthen communication and provide strategies for creating a supportive home environment, helping parents and caregivers effectively manage challenges and foster positive growth.

    • Postpartum Support: I offer specialized support for new parents navigating the emotional and mental health challenges of the postpartum period, including stress management, coping with changes, and addressing feelings of overwhelm.
